Yosemite Climbing History Exhibition
.
During 2019, the Mariposa Museum and History Center organized a “Yosemite Climbing History” exhibition which includes artifacts, photographs, a timeline, and a series of speakers on various aspects of Yosemite’s climbing history. The opening of the exhibition was held on Friday, April 5, 2019 with a “Ribbon-Cutting” at 6:00 p.m., followed by a slide show by Ken Boche of the first ascent of the Psychedelic Wall which he established in 1966 on Yosemite’s Sentinel Rock.
The exhibition continued through the summer and fall climbing seasons with presentations by pioneering climbers, Glen Denny, Ken Yager, Gary Colliver, and many others, making their own presentations over the course of the exhibition. The exhibition continues to evolve, so if you saw it last year (or not), it’s worth another visit, once the museum reopens.
